Краткая история ATV

ATV (all-terrain vehicle, буквально «транспортное средство для езды по любой местности» или просто «вездеход») — это горячо любимый в узких кругах вид транспорта, характеризующийся главным признаком — возможностью проехать там, где даже велосипед «заглохнет». Разумеется, опытные автолюбители сразу поняли, что если такая машина может что-то делать, она должна это делать. Постепенно родилась целая спортивно-досуговая дисциплина, связанная с данным видом транспорта, но произошло это совсем не сразу. Вообще-то, всё началось довольно давно — в далёких шестидесятых.

Так, согласно легенде, 60-е выглядели за пределами СССР.

Первые ATV (именно «ATV», а не что-либо ещё), вопреки популярному заблуждению, появились отнюдь не в Японии. Их родина — США. Правда, тут стоит немного оговориться: под этим словом тогда понимали немного другие штуки. А именно — многоместные амфибии, дизайн которых был «сворован» у военных бронетранспортёров. И колёс у них было совсем не четыре.

Что-то вроде этого, только без китайцев внутри.

В семидесятых (менее весёлых, чем шестидесятые) количество колёс на внедорожниках резко сократилось: Honda выпустила первый ATV… с тремя колёсами. Иными словами — трицикл. Модель-первенец носила название US90 (позднее — ATC90) и обладала будоражащей воображение мощностью в семь лошадиных сил. Подразумевалось, что подобные машинки будут использоваться исключительно в рекреационных целях, а не для серьёзного бездорожья. Так, в общем, и было.

Между прочим, этот молодец снимался в «Бриллиантах навсегда».

Индустрия не претерпевала значительных изменений вплоть до 1982-го, когда Honda неожиданно выпустила ATC200E «Big Red» — первый утилитарный ATV. Трицикл обладал передним и задним багажниками, механической подвеской и коробкой передач на пять скоростей. Honda держала негласную монополию на рынке трёхколёсных ATV, обладая, таким образом, и рядом спортивных моделей, и новой утилитарной.

В том же году наконец-то появился первый четырёхколёсный ATV — самый настоящий квадроцикл. Его в составе своего дебютного модельного ряда выпустила Suzuki, чем неплохо утёрла нос своему главному конкуренту — «Хонде». Модель так и называлась — LT125 «QuadRunner». Квадр обладал спидометром и коробкой на пять скоростей. «Судзуки» не прогадала: переход на четыре колеса был настолько успешным, что мгновенно откусил немалую долю рынка индустрии трициклов.

«Раргх! Гварр!»

Модель, опять-таки, служила рекреационным целям и предназначалась для новичков. Более серьёзная штука вышла немного позже, в 1985-ом — ей стала спортивная модель LT250R «QuadRacer» (от той же Suzuki), во многом предопределившая облик и поведение современных спортивных квадроциклов.

Модель стала настолько удачной, что её выпуск продолжался в течение семи лет, претерпев несколько инженерных изменений. Конкуренты не стали долго тянуть с ответом и выпустили на рынок Honda FourTrax TRX250R и Kawasaki Tecate-4 250.

В дальнейшем спортивные квадроциклы обрели всё более внушительные характеристики, став быстрее, мощнее и проходимее. Одним из флагманов спортивных квадриков стал Yamaha Banshee 350, обладавший внушительными на тот момент характеристиками. Общими усилиями японских разработчиков образовалось отдельное направление в мотоспорте, стремительно набравшее популярность в Японии, Канаде и США.

В то же время начало своё стремительное развитие и утилитарное ответвление индустрии квадроциклов. Первой ласточкой опять стала Honda со своим TRX350 FourTrax 4x4 — пожалуй, самым популярным дизайном утилитарных квадроциклов в истории, ставшим основой для нескольких продуктовых линеек (от Foreman до Rancher) и выпускавшимся с 1986-го по настоящее время.

Последний же гвоздь в гроб трициклов загнала Американская комиссия по безопасности потребительской продукции (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission), определившая в 1987-ом году, что трициклы использовать значительно опаснее, чем квадрики. Однако это было связано отнюдь не с ненавистью к нечётному количеству колёс, а вполне разумными положениями, что сбалансировать три колеса на горизонтальной плоскости намного сложнее, и существует риск опрокидывания как набок, так и назад, что для четырёх колёс требует приложения заметно больших усилий. Так современный квадроцикл стал нормой для класса ATV.

В девяностых наконец подтянулись и другие страны: на рынок вышли такие производители, как Arctic Cat (США), Polaris (тоже США) и Bombardier (Канада). Американцы со свойственым им размахом начали гнаться за наибольшим объёмом двигателя. Так, в 2001-ом год вышел Polaris Sportsman с двигателем в 683 см3, а виртуальный барьер в 1000 см3 первой «преодолела» модель Arctic Cat с говорящим названием ThunderCat 1000. Справедливости ради, объём двигателя у неё составил «всего» 951 см3. Что, конечно, тоже немало.

Такая нездоровая тяга к увеличению размеров наталкивает на совсем другие мысли.

Сейчас квадроциклы также выпускают Германия, Австрия, Китай, Тайвань, Италия, Испания, Южная Корея и даже Украина.

С растущей популярностью квадроциклов как средства для активного отдыха многие производители обратили свои взоры на самую младшую аудиторию — от шести лет и старше. Они обладают объёмом двигателя всего в 50 «кубиков» и менее.

Я бы в детстве за такое правую почку отдал.

В результате смены поколений возраст современного квадролюбителя сейчас колеблется от 12 до 45 лет. Те, кто постарше, стараются с младых лет посадить своих детей на четырёхколёсный мототрактор, постепенно превращая ATV в популярное, хоть и дорогое, средство проведения молодёжного досуга.
